Material on this site comes from several sources and is published under different terms. Please check the licence for anything you reuse.

RISC OS

RISC OS is an open source operating system owned by RISC OS Developments Ltd and licensed primarily under the Apache License, Version 2.0. Some components carry other licences; see the licence files in each component.

Programmer's Reference Manuals

The Documents section publishes the RISC OS 5 Programmer's Reference Manuals as the Programmer's Reference Manual 2026, a reader edition compiled from the RISC OS Open documentation wiki. Its layout and explanatory arrangement are copyright RISC OS Technologies 2026 under the Apache License, Version 2.0; the source documentation and cover illustration keep their original owners' rights.

The RISC OS Programmer’s Reference Manuals are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0, and are listed here with the permission of the RISC OS intellectual property holders, RISC OS Developments Ltd.

The RISC OS 5.30 User Guide is copyright Acorn Computers Limited 1996, with updates copyright RISC OS Open Ltd 2018–2024. It is published by RISC OS Open Ltd under the Apache License, Version 2.0, and is reproduced here with its notices intact.

Downloads

RISC OS One ROMs and disc images contain RISC OS 5 components under their own licences. NetSurf is licensed under the GNU GPL version 2; its source is available from netsurf-browser.org. Licence files are included in each download.

This website

The site runs on RISC OS Open Ltd's website applications from gitlab.riscosopen.org/website: Hub, Radiant, Beast, Instiki, Typo and Collaboa. Radiant, Typo, Collaboa and the Hub library are MIT-licensed; each application is used under its own licence.

The RISC OS One name, logo, Frosted artwork and site design are copyright RISC OS Technologies 2026.
